About Słońsk Landscape Park

Established in 1985, Słońsk Landscape Park is located along the Oder River in Lubusz Voivodeship, western Poland. The park covers a mosaic of habitats including extensive wetlands, oxbow lakes, riparian forests, meadows, and marshes, which together form one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the region. The Oder River’s dynamic floodplain is central to the park’s landscape, supporting complex ecosystems and a high biodiversity. Rich in flora and fauna, the park is especially popular among ornithologists and nature lovers due to the presence of rare and protected bird species such as the white-tailed eagle, black stork, and aquatic warblers. Historically, the area has seen varied human influence, yet much of the landscape remains well-preserved, offering a glimpse into the natural floodplain environment of the Oder valley. Visitors can explore marked hiking trails and cycling routes that wind through forests and meadows, providing plenty of wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities. Educational boards and birdwatching hides enhance the visitor experience. The park’s remote, tranquil atmosphere makes it a favored destination for those seeking a peaceful connection with nature, particularly during migration seasons when large flocks of waterfowl populate the wetlands.
